We have been out and about, to Rambottom no less, in Lancashire, to celebrate the Silver Wedding of our friends Catherine and Philip Burgess. As ever, it was grand to see old chums and we are filled with the urge to do more of the same. Hotel had a pool, which was a bonus, and I only hit my head off the side twice.
Nephew Daniel is nine now, we had a jolly birthday lunch at Granny’s.
And the Mincers played Abbeyview in Dunfermline, where once more the band and groupies were treated to an exclusive table at the interval, a table which was laden with home baking and a giant pot of tea. The teapot acquires mirage-like qualities for me, I’m scared it will disappear before I touch it, and I ensure that an eclectic selection of comestibles is squirrelled away for afterwards. Ha, you try singing after eating even half a mini sausage roll, never heed a bowl of stovies. Anyway, it was a most enjoyable evening, very different acoustics which kept us all on our toes!
Last weekend we went along to help at Ally Blair’s scary party, which was held in the frankly beautiful new Dunfermine High. Now, I know only too very, very well that no amount of amenities and groovy right-on hang out areas are going to make the school experience any better, if the peer pressure, the bullies and the curriculum are conspiring to create your own personal hell, but hey! at least they had employed an architect with vision. And it all gets better once you find your own tribe. So, back to the party. Ally chose cool creatures from Cool Creatures and I would thoroughly recommend this, although I would draw the line at ess pee eye dee eee are ess.
