Well documented swathes of time can hang heavy in January, usually because of the continued short days and long nights.\u00a0 (Other reasons are available).<\/p>\n

I have just checked my facts about the Doldrums, which I understood to be an area of the ocean (Atlantic or Pacific, it turns out) where winds could subside for lengthy periods of time and leave a sail powered ship becalmed.\u00a0 As ever with Nature it’s a question of balance, yin and yang or whatever way you would have it,\u00a0 turns out the Doldrums <\/a>is also an area where savage storms can occur.<\/p>\n
