Instead, the DB Astro <\/a>mob went to Dunfermline yesterday for the gala day.\u00a0 There was an interesting turn out of schools, street theatre and the new Provost.\u00a0 Having congratulated ourselves on the ease with which our new pop-up gazebo, errr, popped up, we then realised that the Holmes laptop was still in the Bay.\u00a0\u00a0 As this was essential to the overall ambience and information sharing that had been planned for the richly woven tapestry that is local astronomy (ok – it was to play a dvd) I volunteered to go home for it and was treated to the best line in taxi patter that I have heard for ages.\u00a0\u00a0 I could not repeat one story to anyone, you’ll just have to seek out Brian yourselves.<\/p>\n The day progressed, we chatted to the ladies next door who were running a tombola for CHAS <\/a>which is just about the most worthwhile charity I can think of, so I was delighted that my tombola tickets won me absolutely nothing.\u00a0\u00a0 The venison burger stall opposite finally<\/em> opened and we clocked the Lord Provost<\/a>\u00a0 nearby, so Iain J nipped across and politely asked him to come to us next for a photo op.\u00a0\u00a0 I only had my phone camera with me, which is not iPhone quality, and a wee disposable analogue one which has gone to Boots to be developed – yes children, this is how we did it in the olden days\u00a0 – so these below are not great. We also spoke to one of the Olympic torch bearers, Owen Miller, who again kindly posed for pictures.<\/p>\n\n
