{"id":2137,"date":"2013-11-10T10:09:29","date_gmt":"2013-11-10T10:09:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/banthewasp.com\/?p=2137"},"modified":"2013-11-10T10:09:29","modified_gmt":"2013-11-10T10:09:29","slug":"statuesque","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/banthewasp.com\/?p=2137","title":{"rendered":"Statuesque"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back to Northumberland we tootled, this time to Slaley Hall, to swoon once more at the autumn colours, and spend a lot of time talking.\u00a0 Noted redwing and song thrush feeding voraciously in the rowan tree outside our bedroom window.<\/p>\n<p>On the Wednesday we went our separate ways, Paul to a star camp in Galloway and me to London.\u00a0 After a thoroughly enjoyable walk round the tourist trail, something I had not done since the early 80s, I met up with Nick for a lovey blether and a meal.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the day by pure fluke I happened to be in the same street as Prince Harry &amp; Prince Philip.\u00a0 They were attending a Remembrance service in Westminster Abbey.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a title=\"Remembrance\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/video\/2013\/nov\/07\/royals-field-of-remembrance-westminster-abbey-video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Westminster Abbey&#8217;s Field of Remembrance on Thursday. <\/a>The royals pay their respects at the graves of unknown British soldiers from the First and Second World Wars.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square is currently occupied by a giant blue cockerel.\u00a0 Once more my camera does not capture the colour, but this article in the <a title=\"Big bird\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/artanddesign\/2013\/jul\/25\/big-blue-cock-trafalgar-square\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grauniad <\/a>shows a truer colour and is also quite earthy, those of a sensitive disposition look away now.<\/p>\n<p>Back home now, Ali and I went to Stirling yesterday along the M9, the <a title=\"Kelpies at the Helix\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thehelix.co.uk\/discover-helix\/the-kelpies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kelpies<\/a> are about finished and only the land around requires a wee bitty turf. \u00a0 Some more public art below.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back to Northumberland we tootled, this time to Slaley Hall, to swoon once more at the autumn colours, and spend a lot of time talking.\u00a0 Noted redwing and song thrush feeding voraciously in the rowan tree outside our bedroom window.
