{"id":2266,"date":"2014-01-20T19:05:46","date_gmt":"2014-01-20T19:05:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/banthewasp.com\/?p=2266"},"modified":"2014-01-20T19:05:46","modified_gmt":"2014-01-20T19:05:46","slug":"monday-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/banthewasp.com\/?p=2266","title":{"rendered":"Monday Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This poem came into my head today.\u00a0\u00a0 Well, it did once I got home and the work buzz kept going.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Long Legged Fly<\/p>\n<p>That civilisation may not sink,<br \/>\nIts great battle lost,<br \/>\nQuiet the dog, tether the pony<br \/>\nTo a distant post;<br \/>\nOur master Caesar is in the tent<br \/>\nWhere the maps are spread,<br \/>\nHis eyes fixed upon nothing,<br \/>\nA hand upon his head.<br \/>\n<em>Like a long-legged fly upon the stream<br \/>\nHis mind moves upon silence.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That the topless towers be burnt<br \/>\nAnd men recall that face,<br \/>\nMove most gently if move you must<br \/>\nIn this lonely place.<br \/>\nShe thinks, part woman, three parts a child,<br \/>\nThat nobody looks; her feet<br \/>\nPractise a tinker shuffle<br \/>\nPicked up on a street.<br \/>\n<em>Like a long-legged fly upon the stream<br \/>\nHer mind moves upon silence.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That girls at puberty may find<br \/>\nThe first Adam in their thought,<br \/>\nShut the door of the Pope&#8217;s chapel,<br \/>\nKeep those children out.<br \/>\nThere on that scaffolding resides<br \/>\nMichael Angelo.<br \/>\nWith no more sound than the mice make<br \/>\nHis hand moves to and fro.<br \/>\n<em>Like a long-legged fly upon the stream<br \/>\nHis mind moves upon silence.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>W.B.
