Solstice again, and it looks like being a very, very busy day.<\/p>\n

Last weekend we went to Vane Farm, not been for ages, and oh happy joy, the flowers are out in the bumblebee meadow and beyond.\u00a0 Not only that, but in the furthest hide we saw male and female Little Ringed Plovers, nesting on a island which was chiefly occupied by Black Headed Gulls and a rogue Tufty.\u00a0 The LRPs threatened to stick the nut on the BHGs any time they came near the nest (scrape might be more accurate here) despite their being much smaller birds.\u00a0 It reminded us of watching the Rockhopper Penguins at Edinburgh Zoo seeing off the Greater Black Backed Gulls.\u00a0 You had to be there, but it was really funny.\u00a0\u00a0 And that racket outside just now is six Rooks trying to ram raid the feeder pole in the front garden and divest it of suet buggy balls.\u00a0 They in turn will soon be given short shrift by the wee guys.\u00a0 It is a very busy time in bird land. <\/a><\/p>\n

Still have not managed to take a decent picture of the sign which advertises\u00a0 “Fresh eggs from the cattery” .\u00a0 It’s on the junction of the B996 and the B9097.<\/p>\n

“Droning hum, orange bum, blaeberry bumblebees buzz busily to meadow-flowers with pollen-laden knees.”<\/p>\n
