Some random thoughts after the first decent night’s sleep in many weeks, mainly brought about by a coming together or synchronicity* of events – I looked up concrescence** or concomitant but it’s more a timey-wimey <\/a>thing.\u00a0\u00a0 Thusly: we put the winter duvet back on and stopped pretending that it was enough to have the summer one, two blankets,\u00a0 extra clothing and some livestock.\u00a0 One downside of losing all this weight is that I now feel the cold, just like normal people.\u00a0 I am regularly wearing multiple layers of clothing whereas before it would have been one t-shirt.\u00a0\u00a0 Please feel free to insert your own rant here<\/strong> <\/span>about the weather in Scotland during the summer of 2015, but for me it will always be The Year My Shins Were Cold.\u00a0\u00a0 I know, how bizarre is that, eh?<\/p>\n

I had also been worried about my right eye because I wasn’t seeing quite correctly, turns out that if you don’t have your glasses straightened and tightened for four years after you first buy them, they go out of alignment.\u00a0 Hands up everyone who falls asleep reading in bed …. I did feel a bit daft but as usual KJH met a nice man who took her seriously and checked everything out.<\/p>\n

I called this post Lotos after the lotophagi<\/em> who were met by Odysseus on his travels, you will recall that these Mediterranean\u00a0 islanders lived to eat the lotos flower and to do\u00a0 precious little else.\u00a0 Odysseus had to use strong arm tactics to drag those of his crew who had partaken, back on board. \u00a0 They were not happy about this and did cry, but then sobered up when faced with Scylla and Charybdis or the wee skeletons in the Ray Harryhousen version.\u00a0\u00a0 Or was that Jason and The Argonauts?\u00a0 There was also a series on the tv back in the 70s called the Lotus Eaters which I think was about sleeping secret agents, certainly it had Wanda Wentham in it which made it de rigeur<\/em> in our house as my dad liked her. \u00a0 Anyway, now that I have woken up properly I cannot recall why I chose that title, you’ll be glad to know, since this will save you having to deduce or even follow my tortured logic on that one.\u00a0\u00a0 Suffice to say that our lives are anything but a sun-kissed idyllic paradise just now, and I spend many hours in the home wares sections of supermarkets.<\/p>\n

But here is a picture which cheered me hugely, left by nephew Daniel last weekend and since the nieces have been sharing pictures on FB, and the Tall One is hopefully to be touring Central Scotland next week,\u00a0 I am filled with aunty-type joy.<\/p>\n

We will be very busy later on and I have been after pictures of the wild flower patches adorning the Fife road sides for ages, so I am going to nip out now before the rain comes on, to do that very thing. \u00a0 Were it not for their stupidly endangered lifestyle I would ask to come back as a bee so that I could spend my days buzzing from bloom to bloom, I do so hope that they have colour vision in order best to enjoy the sheer chromatic*** delight of\u00a0 flying from a poppy to a cornflower and back again.\u00a0 Oh yes, ahem, I had a picture of flowers included in the BBC Scotland weekly gallery,<\/a> I MAY have mentioned this already, after many years of trying I’m not going to miss the opportunity to draw your attention to this.<\/p>\n

**Latin crescere<\/em> meaning to grow, which made me think , because I have always assumed a crescent to be a static shape but obviously<\/em> when you think of the moon, it ain’t.\u00a0 Anyone who is on nodding terms with btw will know that old Selene <\/a>is always spoken of in terms of movement through her perceived phases, waxing gibbous or waning crescent.<\/p>\n
