{"id":3803,"date":"2017-11-19T08:15:37","date_gmt":"2017-11-19T08:15:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/banthewasp.com\/?p=3803"},"modified":"2017-11-19T08:15:37","modified_gmt":"2017-11-19T08:15:37","slug":"dieselected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/banthewasp.com\/?p=3803","title":{"rendered":"Dieselected"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have finally made the leap from a diesel powered car to an electric one.\u00a0\u00a0 Friends are already learning not to ask us how we travelled when we meet up&#8230;..\u00a0 suffice to say it requires a whole new attitude to travelling.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve been to a few places not usually on our our map, especially football stadiums, and have encountered some interesting attitudes. \u00a0 Some people take it as a personal affront and a\u00a0(literally) silent\u00a0 criticism of those driving petrol and diesel vehicles. it isn&#8217;t, it&#8217;s simply our choice, and yes we do know that the electricity used to charge the battery is still 80% derived from fossil fuel sources.\u00a0\u00a0 It&#8217;s also very difficult not to make awful puns all the time, and I have\u00a0 already made up a playlist on Spotify.\u00a0 This may or may not show up below.\u00a0 Anyway, adventures beckon!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Spotify Embed: electric\" style=\"border-radius: 12px\" width=\"100%\" height=\"352\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/playlist\/2VIeEjxDB7cwXFtHFLPXlf?utm_source=oembed\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, we took a very busy train into Edinburgh last night for a free mini gig, Karine Polwart was launching her new album at Coda Music on Bank Street, we were entertained to five (six?) tracks and some chat from the lady herself, on the first evening that we have been in to see the festive lights, it was all quite magical.\u00a0 The album is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.codamusic.co.uk\/product-detail\/652517\/Karine+Polwartpippa+Murphy\/A+Pocket+Of+Wind+Resistance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A Pocket of Wind Resistance<\/a> and it showcases most of the material from her recent stage show.\u00a0 We were fortunate enough to see this\u00a0 in 2016 and since she is one of my all time favourite singer songwriters, I was so delighted that tears may have been shed.\u00a0 But, oh yes, there&#8217;s a but, I would have been foolish and na\u00efve to expect that everyone there would understand the concept of queuing, on a cold, dark night in November, in Scotland, for a <em>free<\/em> gig with no seats.\u00a0 So for the folk who moaned their faces off in said queue, I hope that you were uplifted by the end.<\/p>\n<p>We had intended to treat ourselves to a snifter in our favourite pub, but it and all those around were hoachin&#8217;, so we trotted off home instead.<\/p>\n<p>Note re Spotify list &#8211;
