… not.\u00a0 I truly cannot be doing with this daylight saving tish-tosh.\u00a0\u00a0 Last year, for the first time ever, probably because of the dreadful winter, I understood what people meant by missing the sunlight.\u00a0 For that reason and many others I have taken advantage of our office’s extended membership of the National Galleries.\u00a0 The plan is that I will nip up to Princes Street at lunchtime for half an hour, which will force me out into the bright light (steady Mogwai) to absorb some culture.\u00a0 I used to visit so many galleries in the company of Diana and I was so fortunate to have my own informed guide.\u00a0 I can pick this habit up again.<\/p>\n
Here in Fife though a magnificient artwork is taking shape, it’s called the Fife Earth Project and it consists of the creation of a series of giant land forms, water features and wildlife sanctuaries over a square mile which was previously a coal mine, both underground and open cast.\u00a0 In terms of scale alone, it’s vast.\u00a0 The architect is Charles Jencks,\u00a0 well known for the land form in the garden of the National Gallery of Modern Art, amongst others.\u00a0\u00a0 He also founded the Maggie’s Cancer Care centres, along with and in memory of his late wife Maggie Jencks.<\/p>\n
