Serendippity doo dah

I suspect many people went out for a walk this weekend just to reassure themselves about many things.  I know we did.  The path from Vane Farm to Ballingry is short but intense.  Tackled as it was in thick cloud, we didn’t expect to see much from the top at all but we could view the Carden flood and most of Loch Leven,  Scotlandwell and its hills were lost and the knoll south of Vane Hill receded in the mist as we watched.  However, to cheer us on there were red squirrels at the feeders.  And when we went back down for a cup of tea (the one at the top out of the Thermos didn’t count) great was the rejoicing at the positive ID of a white tailed sea eagle, back in town for the winter.   Paul managed to capture  a grainy silhouette with his new lens, in the last minutes of what passed for daylight.  Always worth a visit, and you bump up against some seriously knowledgeable people, most of whom are happy to share what they know or have spotted.

There were still some patches of autumn colour, the larches in particular laying that punky yellow carpet.
