{"id":1327,"date":"2011-12-31T19:16:28","date_gmt":"2011-12-31T19:16:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/banthewasp.com\/?p=1327"},"modified":"2011-12-31T19:16:28","modified_gmt":"2011-12-31T19:16:28","slug":"hogmanay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/banthewasp.com\/?p=1327","title":{"rendered":"Hogmanay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, it will be no surprise to those who know us to learn that we have been up to Vane Farm again today.\u00a0\u00a0 It was dreich, wet, foggy, misty, dour, and held out no hope for any sightings at all, but we went in anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Having secured the prime table in the cafe &#8211; the one that looks out over the loch &#8211; we chomped down on our brunch only to have to get up time and time again to\u00a0 see the visitors.\u00a0 Two White Tailed Sea Eagles were visible on St Serf&#8217;s island, ably brought in to view by Alistair working the webcam.\u00a0 We also managed to see them through the &#8216;scopes.\u00a0\u00a0 An enchanting charm of around forty goldfinches flew to and fro across the front garden bird feeders, along with at least one Siskin and a Chaffinch.<\/p>\n<p>Out at the hides, we watched a <a title=\"Collective nouns for birds\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_collective_nouns_for_birds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game <\/a>of Whooper Swans tucking their heads in against the driving rain, and many flocks of Teal.\u00a0 In amongst those was a rare green winged teal which got some people very excited.<\/p>\n<p>On leaving, we had asked about a replacement car sticker for Vane Farm, the previous one was trashed when we sold the old car.\u00a0\u00a0 Nothing doing, all stock sold out years ago&#8230;&#8230; except for one they found upstairs, and which was proudly brought to us in the car park as we were just departing.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>VF rocks. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Happy New Year everyone, may you have health and happiness in equal measures<strong>. <\/strong> Some world peace would be nice but let&#8217;s not get ridiculous. <strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, it will be no surprise to those who know us to learn that we have been up to Vane Farm again today.\u00a0\u00a0 It was dreich, wet, foggy, misty, dour, and held out no hope for any sightings at all, but we went in anyway.
