Well, I haven’t been here for a while, sorry about that, things have been busy and I am still trying to work out what I think about last week’s Election result.<\/p>\n
So, yesterday we hied to the Lyceum <\/a>in Edinburgh for the final play in the 2014 -15 season.\u00a0 The was The Venetian Twins, relocated to Central Scotland with a host of Glaswegian and Edinburgher* characters, including a gaudy pink Mrs Malaprop in the young Rosaura, and her beau of destiny Lelio, who was stunningly clad in\u00a0 just about every other colour.\u00a0\u00a0 It was an ensemble cast which all pulled together, knocked down the fourth wall and left you feeling all the richer for the experience, so thank you for that, on what turned out to be, for me, Caroline and Nigel at least,\u00a0 our 25th season.<\/p>\n The birds are ever so busy just now with nesting, and I hope to see fledglings soon.\u00a0 The rook with the squinty beak, who usually lives on the roundabout, has been visiting the feeders. He\/she hasn’t worked out how to untie the knots in the string which keeps the seed feeder secured to the pole, but s\/he has worked out that if said feeder is shaken up and down, all the seed falls out.\u00a0 These are quickly snapped up by the assembled audience of crows, more rooks , magpies and wood pigeons.\u00a0 Squinty Beak has to flap down from the feeder to the ground to remind them who is doing all the hard work here. It’s fascinating.\u00a0 The smaller birds hoover up what’s left after the big guys have strutted their hour upon the stage.**<\/p>\n After 8 Mince played Thornton Golf Club, which again was well received.\u00a0 We were in the dark and the audience were in the lights, but then again every show is different and it keeps us on our toes.\u00a0 Musically I have been mithering everyone to listen to this<\/a> because it is frankly wonderful. I have also been attempting to find, on line, a decent recording of the Iona Boat Song, but I think I may have to buy an actual CD for this, or even, shock horror, sit down at the piano and work out those pesky minor chords.<\/p>\n Lastly, I was delighted to see the TV film Marvellous<\/em> pick up several BAFTA awards; in a true case of serendipity, which is key to the whole show, I was channel surfing one evening when it was first shown and I was happily drawn in.<\/p>\n
