Up in Kenmore with the folk club, A8M, celebrations, music and jaunts. \u00a0For some reflection we visited the Fortingall<\/a> Yew; debate rages, quietly, about its age but it\u2019s definitely very old*. It felt pretty humbling and impressive to be in its company. \u00a0I note from Wiki that part of it has changed gender. \u00a0Mum always said there is nothing new under the sun. \u00a0She would have enjoyed the pre-dinner-drinks drinks \u00a0in our posh verandah room.<\/p>\n

When I\u2019ve done my work of day<\/a>,<\/p>\n

And I row my boat away,
\nDoon the waters of Loch Tay,
\nAs the evening light is fading
\nAnd I look upon Ben Lawers
\nWhere the after glory glows;
\nAnd I think on two bright eyes
\nAnd the melting mouth below.<\/p>\n

She’s my beauteous nighean<\/i> ruadh<\/i>,
\nMy joy and sorrow too;
\nAnd although she is untrue,
\nWell I cannot live without her,
\nFor my heart’s a boat in tow,
\nAnd I’d give the world to know
\nWhy she means to let me go,
\nAs I sing horee<\/i> horo<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Nighean<\/i> ruadh<\/i>, your lovely hair
\nHas more glamour I declare
\nThan all the tresses rare
\n‘tween Killin and Aberfeldy.
\nBe they lint white, brown or gold,
\nBe they blacker than the sloe,
\nThey are worth no more to me
\nThan the melting flake of snow.<\/p>\n

Her eyes are like the gleam
\nO’ the sunlight on the stream;
\nAnd the songs the fairies sing
\nSeem like songs she sings at milking.
\nBut my heart is full of woe,
\nFor last night she bade me go
\nAnd the tears begin to flow,
\nAs I sing horee<\/i>, horo<\/i>.<\/p>\n
