Eye wish

Am currently shopping around for a new pair of spectacles now that my prescription has changed. I cannot believe how much variance there is between shops.  At no time did I ever believe the “get a pair for £50” signs in the window but when you come out of the shop with a quote for more than six times that, it leaves you speechless.  Part of the issue is my insistence on lightweight lenses in a frameless * frame.  I feel very strongly that glasses define your face and I have one already thank you so I don’t want to change it too much.   Think I will strike out for frame frames** but I do not wish to look like Sarah Palin.   Why, just hand me a moose and a blunderbuss and while we’re at it let’s take civilisation back 200 years.   Mmmm, time for some tea.

* there are no frames around the lenses,  just legs and and an interconnecting piece between, which has staggeringly uncomfortable pads that rest on the nose.  One may obtain softer pads but these are – hey! – more expensive still.

** the lenses are framed.
