Wee joke there, which would take too long to unravel if you are not Scottish or a fan of Oor Wullie.
JCB and driver fae up oor close, alang oor street cleared a huge roadway here yesterday, from 1 pm to 8pm. Paul & I went out to wave to him as he was working outside our house and I do not think it is coincidence that we are the only house here who had their pavement cleared as well. A very nice man.
Did anyone else read in school the Ray Bradbury short story about the lighthouse and the beast from the deep? Stick with me here, I was thinking of this as I walked, nay trudged, down to Asda yesterday. The JCB was scraping away the compacted snow with what I sure is a called a back hoe, a big metal scooper. As it dragged along the road surface it emitted a unique sound which was reverberating all the way down the hill and was frankly unsettling. I could just imagine some ancient beast from the deep swimming up the Forth in the belief that it was hearing a mating call after millenia of loneliness.
Well, that’s what happens when you’re stuck inside all day and would rather be at work.
Jings, crivvens and help ma Boab.
