Gazing with ganders

We had a very successful event last night for DB Astro (link at the side there) with a visit to the dark site afterwards.  I did not attend the latter, not feeling too chipper since so far this calendar year I have had two colds and one episode of acute back pain, but hey ho, onwards and upwards!  Nothing compared to what some other people are having to face.  And if I had known that someone was stopping off at the chipper on the way, (groan) I might have pushed myself that bit further.

There was universal disappointment over the UK when the aurora borealis, forecast on the back of a huge coronal mass ejection, failed to materialise here.  But the folk on the Twitters had rare fun speculating about it.  One day I will see the fairy dancers but the harsh reality is that their prediction is difficult to say the least.

And last weekend we saw more birds ! Yes! Can you believe that?  The O.C. at Aberdour with a greenshank, which evaded the lens, and some geese, swans and mallards closer up at Craigencault Ecology farm.

Actually, I am not too sure that duck is  a mallard, so we’ll just call it a juvenile mallard until someone tells me differently . My site, my rules.
