York 2010

Finally decided to go somewhere for our holidays, and the choice was York, since we can hop on a train at Inverkeithing and there is no need to change until we arrive at our destination.   So far, so trouble free, until we woke up on Monday and realised that we had left the tickets in Stirling on Sunday.  However, Paul made it there and back by 10 a.m., so we were back on track.

We enjoyed walking around the various historic sites of interest, and there is no doubt that centuries of over rule whether it was by the Romans, the Vikings, or the Normans, have been well documented.   The old town was also full of geese, which I loved.  None of them was as mad as the one which greeted Paul, Lehua and me some years ago on a visit to a wild life collection near Plockton, or the one-eyed goose  that tried to steal my sannies at Blairdrummond.   We spent the best part of a day at the  National Railway Museum.  A selection of pictures is below, I haven’t even looked at Paul’s yet.
