November blues

It is snowing heavily on this Sunday morning at 08:52.  I am feeling fairly despondent about that, for the simple reason that it makes travel so difficult.  We all know how long it lasted previously and I will have to focus to stay upbeat about life in general.   The front garden birds are hopping in and out of the squirrel proof cage and I really must go and put out extra rations.

I tried to take a picture out of the upstairs window but snow is notoriously difficult to render on film (a point made clear to us with unbelieveably detailed emphasis by the Coen brothers, during a lecture on The Hudsucker Proxy at the Edinburgh Film Festival many years ago.)   So, here is a picture of someone enjoying the snow very much.  Mercedes the polar bear revels in her big new enclosure at The Highland Wildlife Park.

The Mincers played at the DB Bowling Club last night and our spontaneous (not) banter went down well.  The central heating is a bit fierce though, I had a pint of iced water and a flask of tea down my neck and I still dried on one of the high notes. But it’s very important for us to perform as it concentrates the mind wonderfully.

I am also listening to last night’s X Factor on the ITV Player, cannot decide if having Wagner sing Creep by Radiohead was a masterstroke or utter cruelty.   Good song though.
