So, we went away for the weekend, amidst loads of other stuff and keeping in touch with family, but we had a couple of lovely days in Blairgowrie.  We stayed at the Altamount House, which hosted Marika and Rob’s wedding in 1999, thirteen years ago.   It was at a wedding subsequent to that (Fraser Cromarty’s) that a chance remark led to the creation of banthewasp.com.

Anyhoo, we had a very restful time, sliding around Blair on the icy pavements and sampling various scones.  Cargil’s Bistro is well worth a visit (even if you want to go off menu the lovely lady there will try to cater to your every whim, however unreasonable this may be, and trust me, you do just want to have a scone).   Last night we enjoyed a gorgeous menu of slow cooked food in the hotel and we also were allowed to stoke the fire.   This morning we had breakfast while watching the peacocks cope with the snow.

Driving down to Dunkeld this morning was astoundingly beautiful.  The lochs were frozen solid, the air was crystal clear.  Stopped in at Auchterarder for a cup of tea and oh, a scone.  New jam in Cafe Kisa, apple and kiwi fruit.
