A Rose by any other name

Vane Farm has been re-named.  It is now Loch Leven Nature Reserve.  I don’t recall being consulted about this, either as a long term member of the RSPB or a frequent flier, but I was probably investigating a scone at the time. I haven’t decided which I prefer yet, and since it was called Vane Farm the very first time we went, for an extremely successful bat walk, I will always have a fondness for the former.  That and the amount of times we’ve puggled ourselves walking up Vane Hill.

No panda babies this year.  A lot of people will be disappointed but for a country which can’t even provide consistent weather two weeks in a row, it’s hardly surprising.

I feel I ought to mention the moment on Wednesday when a three kilo bag of bird food split, just as I was emptying it into the hard plastic hopefully mouseproof tub.   Yes, it was messy, and don’t be surprised if you can still find some seeds under the couch.
