Charmed

Just wanted to document my previous claim regarding a charm of goldfinches – one of the many, many, glorious and wonderful things about the world of birds is the impressive list of collective nouns it has garnered.

I have noticed that many birds, face on, look rather aggressive, and the wee chap here is no exception.  The group, trio or charm are feeding in the safe house, it’s not the jail.  Woodpigeons parade up and down outside it, trying to stick their heads in, to little avail.

I will be turning off the comment option on this shortly (oh, all right, Paul will be doing this and I will be supplying cups of tea) because in the past few weeks the site has been receiving an inordinate amount of dribbly spam, and while it does no harm, it’s annoying having to clear down the emails from my inbox which say  “Please moderate this piece of twaddle from someone you don’t know”.  I think Team Discovery Carol was the last person to comment anyway, and that was possibly last decade.   But you can still contact me by phone, text, email, letter, drop by (check we’re in first), Twitter or PM me on FB as the young people say.
