02.05.11 My blog is not a place for political comment, chiefly because I’m painfully aware of my lack of knowledge on the subject. I will only say therefore that for the first time in yonks I did not switch on the news, tv or radio, first thing this morning, therefore it was perhaps ironic that I was made aware of the death of Osama Bin Laden by Facebook chums.
Yesterday the boy cycled while I swam. On Saturday we walked along the Water of Leith before going to the Lyceum to see Educating Agnes, a Liz Lochhead translation of a Molière play, School for Wives, also known as Let Wives Tak Tent** when Rikki Fulton starred in a previous Scottish adaptation and in its first incarnation as L’École des Femmes, although I think the Scottish titles are wittier. We saw another heron on the water, much harder than its cousin in Kinrossshire, since it was not to be dissuaded or diverted from the job in hand by any number of people walking past and stopping to take its picture. There was also a Anthony Gormley statue in the water near the bridge below the Gallery of Modern Art; during my attempts to photograph this the tripod fell out of my camera case into the river below. Horrified at a second transgression against Nature within a week, I was very grateful and relieved when Paul approached a gentleman whose son was clearly dressed for paddling and guddling. The boy retrieved said item, so at least no giant trout will choke to death on it. Thank you people.
Turns out I took 78 pictures, be glad I am only reproducing a handful here.
