Yesterday was one of those lovely bright winter days that fool the birds into spring time behaviour, so not to be outdone, and to celebrate a long overdue redd oot* of the garage, we went exploring, this time to West Wemyss, a village I had never visited. There are some beautiful examples of Fife architecture and a beach which is a natural geology park. Wemyss Castle occupies a frankly brave stance on the edge of the cliff. The day’s birdy count included eider, cormorant, herring gull and the O.C. We also saw a buzzard quite close up, at Braefoot.
*Scottish for tidy up, although the term probably does not refer to the subsequent trip to the recycling facility and the smug feeling thereafter.
